An ongoing refurbishment programme delivered in partnership with Furness Building Society, focused on modernising multiple high street branches across the North West. The work spans multiple towns and cities, with each location shaped around a consistent approach to layout, material and customer experience while responding to the specifics of each building.
The Brief
The programme set out to update a number of existing branches that no longer reflected how customers and staff use the space. Each site required a more contemporary environment that could support both open, accessible service and private financial discussions, alongside improved facilities for staff. The challenge was to achieve this consistently across multiple locations while working within the constraints of existing buildings.
The Work
Each branch was taken back to a clear starting point through a full internal strip-out, allowing layouts to be reconsidered and rebuilt to suit current use. New configurations introduced a balance of open customer areas and enclosed meeting spaces, supported by a restrained material palette of natural timber and muted tones.
Across the programme, works included mechanical and electrical upgrades, new partitioning, bespoke joinery, feature lighting, acoustic treatments and furniture installation. Key elements such as welcome desks, consultation areas, cashier points and seating were designed to create a coherent experience across all sites while remaining appropriate to each space.
The Result
The programme delivers a consistent, recognisable environment across multiple branches, while allowing each location to function effectively in its own context. Spaces feel more open and easier to navigate, with clearly defined areas for different types of interaction. Staff benefit from improved working conditions, and customers are supported through a more considered and comfortable experience.
